The following featured activities are offered by the Glendale Public Library in December. Locations include the Main Library, 5959 W. Brown St.; the Foothills Branch Library, 19055 N. 57th Ave.; and the Velma Teague Branch Library, 7010 N. 58th Ave.

Main library ‘all-ages event’
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8
LIBCON West! Get ready to let loose, drop in, and geek out! Glendale Public Library presents its third annual library comic convention. Celebrate all things pop culture, with cosplay, gaming, crafts, stories, authors, artists, trivia, shopping, food trucks, prizes and more at this free, family-friendly event. Main library adult
2 to 4 p.m. Dec.10 — in  Creative Space
*Senior Tech Academy: Computer Basics 102. Learn how to identify computer files and folders. Access Windows software to create and edit document files. This class will be held at the Glendale Community College Library & Media Center. We will provide a shuttle (with wheelchair access, if desired) from GPL Main Library to GCC for those who request it at the time of registration. Please register at the library.

6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 — in auditorium
Glendale Coffeehouse: Holiday Jam. Enjoy live acoustic music performed by local musicians. This month, members of our Acoustic Jam Session will entertain the audience with holiday favorites. Please note that performers for this event are scheduled in advance.

6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec.  10 — in large meeting room
Broomball for Not-Wizards! Bring your competitive spirit to battle other not-wizards out on the library lawn. We’ll provide the (blow-up) brooms, balls and hoops, you bring the energy! Sneakers and exercise wear recommended.

4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 12 — in auditorium
Arizona Broadway Theatre: “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Actors, costumes and props . . . oh my! Award-winning theater troupe Arizona Broadway Theatre for Young Audiences is bringing its show to the library. From the charming opening melodies of “Christmas Time Is Here” to Linus’ timeless reminder of what the season is all about, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is the perfect way to introduce your kids to the magic of live performance! This program is geared for school-aged children, but younger kids are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

TEARS Foundation Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group. The monthly emotional support group is open to all parents who have lost children during pregnancy or infancy. Acoustic Jam. Bring your acoustic instrument and play bluegrass, country, folk, gospel, and more round-robin style. All levels of players welcome. Audience and singers also are encouraged to attend. On the first and third Friday of each month. For more information, call 623-930-3844.

Gentle Reads book discussion group. Event held the second Wednesday of every month to discuss emotionally uplifting and inspirational fiction. This month’s selection: “The Walnut Tree” by Charles Todd. For more information, call 623-930-3844.

6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 — in Roadrunner Room
Gentle Yoga: Relax and De-Stress. Yoga poses, breathing, meditation, and ideology can improve your health and well-being. Come practice increasing flexibility, strength, and balance in a gentle way. Learn simple breathing and meditation practices you can use every day. Presented by Kula Yoga. Bring a yoga mat or blanket. For more information, call 623-930-3844.

Foothills Branch Library youth
11 a.m.  to 12 p.m. Dec. 12 — Storytime Room
Spectacular Winter Storytime. Join others for some fun winter themed stories followed by a special craft.

Velma Teague Branch Library adult
1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 22
Arts and Crafts Corner: Snowflake Beaded Ornament. Make a beautiful snowflake ornament using a stainless-steel snowflake form and beads of your choosing. Registration is required.

Dec. 1 to 31 — in Teen  Zone
Teen Holiday Challenge. For the month of December, stop by our Teen Zone to complete our Holiday Challenge for a small prize (while supplies last) and be entered to win a Grand Prize.

Holiday Snowman Make & Take Craft. Pick up a make-it-yourself craft at the Youth Desk anytime during regular library hours. All supplies will be provided. Crafters younger than 6 years old will need an adult helper.

4 to 5 p.m. Dec.  13
Getting Crafty with Miss Janet: Paper Plate Snow Globes. Come and join in the fun! Create a cool craft to keep or give as a gift! Crafters younger than 6 years old will need an adult helper. This month’s project will be Paper Plate Snow Globes. All supplies will be provided. Thursday
