'Check' this out

Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan, center, is surrounded by Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers, Glendale Library Administrator Dawn Wasley, Chief Librarian Michael Beck, Foothills Branch Administrative Librarian Kristin Fletcher-Spear, Collection Development Administrative Librarian Kathy Curley and Velma Teague Branch Administrative Librarian Greg Kinder as she presents a Library Services Technology Grant check in the amount of $56,000 Aug. 8 at the Glendale Main Library. The check represented three grants, which were written by Wasley, Fletcher-Spear, Curley and Kinder. The grants came from the Arizona State Library with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. $18,600 will be used to provide “heroes-themed” collection resources and materials, as well as fund the JobNow database at the new Heroes Park Branch Library, which is set to open in March 2019. The other two grants will be used systemwide — $12,900 to provide programming aimed at the senior population and $24,500 to go toward STEM-related programming.
